Tricia Patterson looks for cake-decorating

— and this time she found it in the

napkin table runner on the July cover of

Better Homes and Gardens.

“ I

absolutely loved the bright colors and the mixed patterns,” says Tricia,

owner of Patty Cakes, a specialty cake business in New Jersey. It was

perfect timing: When she received her July issue, Tricia had just been

hired to make a graduation cake that was “ funky and fun,” and, most

important, partly orange. Using different patterns from the runner

for each side of the square cake, Tricia met the challenge—another

mission sweetly accomplished for this creative baker. “ It really is

satisfying,” she says, “to create a work of art that also tastes good.” ■
